Heavy rainfall above 75mm expected across several provinces

The Department of Meteorology has warned that atmospheric conditions over the island have become favourable for increased rainfall, predicting fairly heavy showers above 75 mm in several provinces across the island.
According to the weather advisory, heavy rainfall is particularly expected in parts of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, and Central provinces. Showers or thundershowers are likely to intensify during the afternoon and evening hours, with temporary gusty winds expected during convective storms.
Residents in low-lying areas and locations susceptible to rapid water level rises have been advised to remain vigilant. The Disaster Management Centre and local authorities have called on the general public to take adequate precautions against potential hazards caused by temporary localized inundations and falling branches.
