Hari TV Wins National Honour for Humanitarian Efforts After Cyclone Dithwa
· Sri Lanka
Hari TV has been awarded the Best Social Media Award (National Interest) at the 31st Sumathi Awards, recognising its impactful humanitarian work following Cyclone Dithwa.
The initiative, carried out last year, focused on providing relief to Kalugala village near Ududumbara—a remote community in Sri Lanka’s Central Province that was severely affected by the disaster.
Channel owner and media personality Lahiru Mudalige stated that Hari TV’s efforts helped deliver essential support to families who were left struggling in the cyclone’s aftermath, which caused significant damage across the region.
He further emphasised that the recognition goes beyond the Hari TV team, highlighting the unity and generosity of Sri Lankans both locally and overseas.
“This honour belongs to everyone who stepped forward—those who contributed goods, funds, and support—to help our communities rebuild after the disaster,” he said.
