Fazil Marija Appointed Sri Lanka Men’s Sevens Head Coach

Sri Lanka Rugby has appointed former national captain and experienced coach Fazil Marija as the new Head Coach of the Sri Lanka Men’s Sevens team.

Marija, who has previously coached Kandy Sports Club and Trinity College, takes over from Peter Woods and his coaching team following a review of the national side’s performance at the opening leg of the Asia Rugby Sevens in China.

A former Sri Lanka captain and highly respected figure in the local rugby community, Marija brings extensive experience as both a player and coach to the national Sevens setup.

His appointment comes as Sri Lanka Rugby looks to strengthen the team’s performances in the remainder of the Asia Rugby Sevens competition and build a more competitive national squad.

Marija will now take charge of preparations as Sri Lanka seeks to improve its results and make a stronger impact on the regional Sevens stage.
