Emraan Hashmi's Awarapan 2 nears Rs 2 billion globally, enters Top 5 highest-grossing Bollywood films of 2026
· India
The romantic action drama is barrelling toward the Rs 150 crore India nett mark, and two weeks in, it shows no signs of losing steam. What started as a strong Independence Day opener has snowballed into one of Bollywood's standout hits of 2026, comfortably holding its ground deep into its second week, a feat plenty of bigger releases this year haven't managed.
Day 11 brought in Rs 2.75 crore nett across 11,344 shows, pushing the film's India nett total to Rs 139 crore, with the gross now at Rs 165.75 crore domestically. The second weekend did the heavy lifting: after a steadier Rs 5.75 crore on Day 8, the film surged to Rs 8.25 crore on Day 9 and Rs 9 crore on Day 10 proof that word of mouth, not just opening-week hype, is driving audiences to theatres.
Add in Rs 50 lakh from overseas (bringing the international total to Rs 30.80 crore), and Awarapan 2's worldwide gross now stands at a hefty Rs 196.55 crore.
Awarapan 2 has reportedly outdone the profit margin of Hashmi's star-making 2004 hit, Murder. That film returned roughly 200% profit, a number many considered untouchable for a Hashmi vehicle. Awarapan 2 has apparently blown past it, sitting at an estimated 215% profit in just ten days.
The sequel has also leapfrogged Welcome To The Jungle (which closed its run at Rs 137.93 crore) to claim the No. 5 spot among Bollywood's highest-grossing films of the year. Up next in its sights: Dhamaal 4. If momentum holds, Awarapan 2 could overtake the Ajay Devgn comedy's lifetime total before its second week even wraps.
Awarapan 2 marks a genuine box-office resurgence, riding a wave of strong word of mouth rather than fading after opening weekend, which has become the real test for films this year. The film also features Disha Patani and Shabana Azmi in key supporting roles.
