Edelweiss Air Resumes Winter Flights to Sri Lanka, Increases Services to Three Weekly

Switzerland’s leisure airline Edelweiss Air is resuming its seasonal winter flights to Sri Lanka from today, October 26, 2026, with an increase in frequency from two to three flights per week, strengthening air connectivity and supporting the country’s tourism industry.

The first flight of the season is scheduled to depart from Zurich today and arrive in Colombo on the morning of October 27. The seasonal service will continue until May 2027, providing additional travel options for visitors from Switzerland during the European winter season.

Under the revised schedule, flights from Zurich to Colombo, operating as LX 8064, will depart on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Return services from Colombo to Zurich, operating as LX 8065, will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

The increase in frequency reflects demand for travel to Sri Lanka and is expected to provide additional passenger capacity while offering greater flexibility for Swiss travellers planning holidays in the country.

Switzerland remains an important source market for Sri Lanka’s tourism sector. The country recorded 33,624 tourist arrivals from Switzerland in 2025, up from 29,829 in 2024, maintaining its position among Sri Lanka’s top 20 tourism source markets in both years.

The resumption of Edelweiss Air’s winter schedule, together with the additional weekly service, is expected to strengthen travel links between the two countries and support Sri Lanka’s efforts to attract more European visitors during the 2026/27 winter tourism season.

The expanded service also offers greater opportunities for Sri Lanka’s hospitality and tourism businesses to benefit from increased visitor arrivals, as the country continues to develop its international air connectivity and attract travellers from key European markets.
