“Don’t Panic, There Is Enough Fuel,” CPC Chairman Assures Public
· Sri Lanka
Chairman of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC), D. J. Rajakaruna, has assured the public that there is no shortage of fuel in the country and urged motorists not to panic over reports of fuel queues.
Rajakaruna said fuel queues were seen yesterday because people had become concerned over rumours regarding the fuel supply.
“There is no problem with the country’s fuel supply. People became frightened because of rumours,” he said.
He urged the public not to join queues based on information circulating on social media and instead to obtain fuel from the nearest CPC filling station.
Rajakaruna also said that other fuel companies had limited the release of fuel, which had contributed to the situation.
He assured the public that there would be no change in fuel prices until the end of this month.
He further said that, in all likelihood, fuel prices would not be changed for approximately three months, while noting that other companies face no legal restriction on selling fuel at higher prices.
“Trust us. There is no problem,” Rajakaruna said, urging the public to remain calm.
