District anti-trafficking forums to strengthen response to human trafficking
· Sri Lanka
The establishment of District Anti-Trafficking Forums emerged as a central objective during a stakeholder meeting of the National Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force (NAHTTF), held at the Ministry of Defence in Colombo.
The proposed regional forums aim to decentralize coordination among law enforcement, local administrative bodies, and civil organizations to facilitate earlier detection and intervention in human trafficking incidents.
Task force officials emphasized the critical need for inter-agency information sharing to combat illegal overseas employment scams and protect vulnerable populations through community-level reporting networks.
