Discounted tickets offered as Royal Melbourne Show nears final weekend

Adults can go to the Royal Melbourne Show for the same price as kids on Friday, with tickets just $27 until late this evening. Gates are now open for the ninth day of the show, ahead of the final weekend of entertainment at the Melbourne Showgrounds. Melbourne is in the middle of three days of wet and wild weather but there is still a lot to do undercover at the show. The All Breeds Championships is underway at the Lifewise Dogs Precinct.

The Beef Cattle Competition is always happening indoors at the Livestock Pavillion. For families braving the wet weather, the Horses in Action equestrian event will be running in the Main Arena. The Paw Patrol Playland has been a hit with young kids, and is undercover near the Kids Carnival. The Country Women’s Association is also also celebrating 90 years of cherished service at the showgrounds, with families invited to experience one of the show’s favourite traditions by sampling the famous CWA scones.

The show is now in its 178th year and, while there is no poultry at the show this year, the Sunrise Animal Nursery has been a popular indoor activity for families who are able to get up close to the cute and cuddly animals. Families heading to the show are being encouraged to use public transport, with free travel for under 18s and half price fares for adults. Trains to the showgrounds run from Flinders Street, Southern Cross and North Melbourne stations.
