Dinodh Dasanayake Wins Bronze Medal for Sri Lanka at International Astronomy Olympiad

Sri Lankan student Dinodh Dasanayake of Nalanda College has achieved a historic milestone by winning a medal for Sri Lanka at the International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA).

Dinodh represented Sri Lanka at the 19th International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA), held in Hanoi, Vietnam, where he secured a Bronze Medal in the prestigious international competition.

The achievement comes after a 12-year wait for Sri Lanka to secure another medal at the IOAA, making Dinodh’s success a significant moment for the country’s young astronomy and astrophysics community.

Currently serving as the President of the Nalanda College Astronomical Society, Dinodh has demonstrated a strong passion and commitment to astronomy and astrophysics. His achievement reflects not only his individual dedication and hard work but also the strength of Sri Lanka’s emerging talent in science.
