Damn Fine Coffee Launches Sri Lanka’s First Specialty Coffee Dry Mill

Sri Lanka’s specialty coffee sector has reached a significant milestone with the launch of Damn Fine Coffee’s (DFC) new dry mill, described as the first facility of its kind in the country, with support from Australia’s Market Development Facility.

The new facility aims to address a key challenge in Sri Lanka’s coffee value chain by strengthening local dry milling and post-harvest processing capacity.

By improving quality control, consistency and processing efficiency, the dry mill will enable DFC to work with a wider network of coffee producers while helping strengthen the quality of Sri Lankan green coffee beans.

The investment is also intended to create opportunities beyond the new facility itself. With stronger processing capabilities, DFC will be able to explore new domestic and international buyers and help more Sri Lankan coffee meet international quality standards.

The initiative could support greater access to premium markets and contribute to unlocking the country’s untapped coffee export potential.

The launch was attended by Australian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka H.E. Matthew Duckworth, together with government representatives, private-sector leaders and industry stakeholders.

The partnership reflects a shared ambition to build a stronger, more competitive specialty coffee sector in Sri Lanka while creating new opportunities for local coffee producers to participate in higher-value domestic and international markets.
