Colombo International Book Fair 2026 Begins; Tax Concessions for Publishers Promised

The Colombo International Book Fair 2026 commenced today at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) in Colombo, with Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya attending the opening ceremony.

Speaking at the event, the Prime Minister said steps would be taken to provide tax concessions to publishers, as promised by the President.

Organised by the Sri Lanka Book Publishers’ Association, the 27th edition of the Colombo International Book Fair will be held from September 25 to October 4 at BMICH. The fair is open daily from 9.00 a.m. to 9.00 p.m.

The exhibition features a large number of stalls showcasing books and publications, while publishers have also arranged special discounts and facilities for readers.

A wide range of books, school equipment and educational materials are available for display and sale at the exhibition.

The event also features publications in Sinhala, Tamil and English, along with book launches, author meetings and other literary activities.
