Civil Intelligence Front Raises Concerns Over Central Bank Decisions Affecting Six Institutions

Representatives of the Civil Intelligence Front, including its chairman Sanjaya Mahawatta, visited the Presidential Secretariat today.

Speaking on the occasion, Mahawatta claimed that decisions taken by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) had resulted in the closure of six institutions.

He said the President had been informed of the concerns surrounding the decisions taken by the Central Bank.

Mahawatta further said that they would continue to take action in connection with the institutions and that a major protest would be held over the matter.

The Central Bank has separately stated that freezing orders are currently in effect against six companies and their directors, restricting the disposal, transfer or other dealings involving their properties and assets. The CBSL said the orders were issued under the Finance Business Act and subsequently confirmed and extended by the Colombo High Court.
