CIABOC tells court India flagged alleged illicit funds in Krrish project

Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa was further remanded by the Colombo Magistrate's Court in two high-profile bribery and corruption cases. The charges relate to alleged financial misconduct in connection with the Krrish square development project and transactions tied to the 2013 SriLankan Airlines Airbus procurement.

During the court proceedings, the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) submitted that intelligence and financial tracking from Indian investigative agencies had alerted Sri Lankan authorities to suspicious monetary transactions. The funds were purportedly routed through offshore accounts before being linked to local beneficiaries.

Defense counsel representing the parliamentarian argued for bail, stating that their client has continuously complied with the legal process and cooperated with ongoing inquiries. However, the magistrate ordered Rajapaksa to be further remanded pending additional submissions and reports from CIABOC investigators.
