Chamari Athapaththu’s Leadership Shines as She Shares Player of the Match Award

Sri Lanka women’s captain Chamari Athapaththu once again showed that leadership goes beyond personal achievements after being named Player of the Match.

Following Sri Lanka’s victory over Indonesia, Athapaththu chose to share the award with Nilakshika de Silva, whose crucial half-century helped the team recover from a difficult start and post a competitive total.

Athapaththu later produced a sensational bowling performance, claiming seven wickets for just five runs, including a historic T20I hat-trick — becoming the first Sri Lankan woman to achieve the feat.

Despite her outstanding individual performance, the skipper highlighted the contribution of her teammate, recognising de Silva’s important role in Sri Lanka’s victory.
