Carnage Athlete Foundation Athletes Secure International Sporting Success

Athletes supported by Sri Lanka’s Carnage Athlete Foundation have recorded notable results at international competitions, including Commonwealth powerlifting medals and a para-category victory at the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship.

The Commonwealth Powerlifting Championships, held in Winnipeg, Canada, from September 17 to 27, saw Rashitha de Silva claim silver in the Women’s Open 47kg category with a total of 342.5kg.

Uvindu Jayasinghe secured bronze in the Men’s Open 105kg category, recording a total of 782.5kg.

Carnage also reported a significant achievement by visually impaired Sri Lankan triathlete Khalid Oshman, who competed at the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship with guide Mithun Liyanage and finished first in the Para Open Category.

The foundation, launched in June 2026, said Oshman’s participation marked a first for a visually impaired Sri Lankan at the championship and formed part of its wider support for athletes across different sporting disciplines.

The initiative also supports ultra-runner Cathryn Smart, who has covered more than 330 kilometres across Sri Lanka as part of a fundraising effort for a local charity.

Carnage Chief Executive Joel Tillekeratne said the foundation aims to provide athletes with sustained support and opportunities throughout different stages of their sporting careers, including emerging junior talent.

The organisation also has partnerships with the National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka and Sri Lanka Rugby as part of its involvement in developing local sport.

The latest achievements highlight the foundation’s support for Sri Lankan athletes competing internationally across powerlifting, triathlon and endurance sport.
