British Airways to Reconnect Sri Lanka with London After 11 Years

British Airways is set to return to Sri Lanka, with the airline scheduled to resume flights between London Gatwick and Colombo from 23 October 2026, marking its return to the route after more than 11 years.
The airline will operate the service three times a week, using Boeing 777-200ER aircraft.
British Airways last operated flights between London and Colombo from 14 April 2013 until 28 March 2015, before suspending the service.
The resumption will restore a direct connection between Colombo and London Gatwick, offering travellers another option for travel between Sri Lanka and the United Kingdom.
The return of British Airways is also expected to strengthen air connectivity between the two destinations and provide greater choice for both leisure and business travellers.
The move comes as Sri Lanka continues to strengthen international air connectivity and expand access to key global markets, particularly ahead of the country's busy tourism season.
With its return to Colombo, British Airways will once again become part of Sri Lanka's international aviation network, reconnecting the island with one of Europe's major aviation hubs.
