Breaking: Police officer stabbed in neck in Brisbane's east, union says

A male police officer has been injured after allegedly being stabbed in the neck while on duty in Brisbane's east, according to the police union.

Police say officers were called to a reported disturbance at a property on Bogong Street in Hemmant just after five on Sunday morning.

Officers spoke with two men at the property before a male constable was injured.

The officer was taken to hospital and was in a stable condition.

One of the men fled the scene on a bicycle before abandoning it and continuing on foot.

Police later located the man and took him into custody a short time later.
