British Tamil Engineer Arun Rajkumar Celebrates Mercedes’ Austrian GP Success

British Tamil engineer Arun Rajkumar has drawn attention after appearing on the Formula 1 podium celebrating Mercedes’ victory at the Austrian Grand Prix, where he proudly lifted the Constructors’ Trophy alongside the team.
Rajkumar, who comes from a Sri Lankan Tamil background, works as a Trackside Power Unit Engineer with Mercedes-AMG High Performance Powertrains (HPP). In this role, he helps monitor, analyse, and optimise the performance and reliability of the team’s power units throughout race weekends.
He is a graduate of the University of Birmingham, where he studied engineering, and began his journey with Mercedes HPP as a placement student before progressing into a full-time engineering position.
The Constructors’ Championship is one of Formula 1’s most prestigious honours, awarded to the team that delivers the best overall performance across a season. It reflects the combined effort of engineers, mechanics, and technical experts and also plays a key role in determining prize money and competitive advantages for the following year.
Rajkumar’s moment on the podium has been widely celebrated as a proud achievement, inspiring many within the global Tamil community and highlighting excellence in motorsport engineering.
