Apple Unveils First Foldable iPhone, Duo

Apple has unveiled its first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo, marking one of the biggest design changes to the company’s flagship product since the original iPhone.

Introduced on September 9, the iPhone Duo features a 7.6-inch inner display when fully opened and a 5.4-inch outer display when folded. Apple says the device combines the portability of an iPhone with a larger screen designed for viewing content, gaming and multitasking.

The foldable phone is powered by Apple’s new A20 Pro chip and features a precision hinge, titanium construction and a nano-texture finish designed to minimise glare. The device also introduces software features that allow users to work with multiple apps and windows on the larger display.

In the United States, the iPhone Duo starts at $1,999 for the 256GB model, with storage options extending to 2TB at $3,199. Pre-orders are scheduled to begin on October 16, with availability starting October 23 in more than 70 countries and regions.

The launch marks Apple’s entry into the rapidly growing foldable smartphone market, years after rivals such as Samsung introduced their first foldable devices.

Apple is positioning the Duo as a major evolution of the iPhone, combining a compact form factor with a much larger display and new capabilities made possible by its folding design.
