Air crew joins search for missing man Ariel Simon who vanished into Daintree bushland
· Australia
A major search is underway in Far North Queensland for a man who has not returned after entering bushland. Ariel Simon, 31, was last seen near Cape Tribulation Rd in the Daintree about 1.30pm on Monday, when he entered the bush and did not return. The search was launched that afternoon, with police, SES members, the Rescue 510 helicopter and PolAir involved in the ongoing operation. Police and Ariel’s family are concerned for his welfare, with his disappearance described as out of character. He is described as Caucasian, about 210cm tall with a slim build and long blonde hair. The search is unfolding in one of Queensland’s most rugged environments, with steep ranges, rainforest and waterways across the Daintree. The area is also crocodile country, while mobile phone coverage can be extremely limited away from Cape Tribulation. Police are appealing directly to Ariel to make contact and let his family know he is safe. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is urged to contact PoliceLink.
