28 Sri Lankan minority youth undergo leadership training in India

A delegation of 28 minority youths from diverse backgrounds across Sri Lanka participated in a five day training programme on Innovative Leadership for Organization Growth and Excellence (ILOGE) at NIESBUD in Noida, as part of an initiative offering 700 customized slots annually for Sri Lankan professionals. The training, held from September 21 to 25 aligns with the announcement made by Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his State Visit to Sri Lanka in April 2025 to strengthen capacity building and skills development.

The programme took place at the National Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development (NIESBUD), a premier organization of India’s Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship engaged in training, consultancy, and research to promote entrepreneurship and skill development. It provided participants with an opportunity to strengthen their leadership capabilities and gain practical exposure to contemporary approaches to leadership, organisational development and community engagement.

The sessions covered a range of themes, including innovative leadership, entrepreneurship and local economic development, self-leadership, design thinking, leadership styles, coaching and mentoring, emotional intelligence, climate leadership, and community resilience. The sessions also enabled participants to prepare Back Home Action Plans, guiding them in identifying ways to apply the knowledge and skills acquired during the programme within their respective organisations and communities.

As part of the programme, the participants undertook a cultural immersion study tour to Agra, including visits to the Taj Mahal and Agra Fort. The visit provided an opportunity for the participants to experience India’s rich cultural heritage while facilitating informal interaction and cross cultural learning. (Newswire)
