2026 Dialog Schools Rugby Awards Celebrate Outstanding School Rugby Talent

The 2026 Dialog Schools Rugby Awards Ceremony was held at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) in Colombo.

The Dialog Schools Rugby Awards were once again held this year to celebrate a special and highly competitive season, regarded as a significant initiative in the development of school rugby in Sri Lanka.

The Schools Rugby Championship has become a strong platform for young rugby players from across the island to develop and showcase their talents at the national level. This year, more than 2,700 players representing 90 schools competed in the championship.

This year's awards were presented under three main categories, along with several sub-categories. Through these awards, schools with a long-standing history in rugby, as well as newcomers from different parts of the country entering the rugby arena, were given the opportunity to showcase their talents and receive recognition.

In Division I, the A Cup championship was won by Trinity College, Kandy, while Zahira College, Colombo, finished as runners-up.

St. Joseph's College and Thurstan College received the Plate honours.

Several leading school rugby teams competing in Division I were also recognised at the ceremony. These included Isipathana College, St. Peter's College, Wesley College, Royal College and Zahira College.

Under Division B, Vidyartha College, Kandy; Dharmaraja College; Maharagama Central College; Richmond College, Galle; and Lalith Athulathmudali College, Mount Lavinia, were recognised.

Several other schools were also recognised under the Division C sub-category and the two additional categories.

Dialog Axiata Chief Marketing Officer Riaz Haniffa, Schools Rugby Association President Buddhika Attanayake, along with principals, teachers and other guests, attended the occasion.
