15-Year-Old Rescued After 62 Hours Stranded in Alaska’s Bering Sea

A 15-year-old boy has been rescued after spending approximately 62 hours stranded on an overturned fishing skiff in Alaska’s Bering Sea.

The teenager was among three people aboard the vessel when it capsized near St. Lawrence Island. He survived by clinging to the overturned boat for several days in the remote and challenging waters.

His ordeal came to an end after a US Coast Guard aircraft spotted the overturned vessel. The teenager was subsequently rescued by the fishing vessel Northwest Explorer.

The incident, however, ended in tragedy, as the boy’s brother and cousin, who were also aboard the skiff, died.

The rescue brought the teenager to safety after more than two and a half days at sea, marking a remarkable survival in the harsh conditions of the Bering Sea.
