104 New Metro Buses Ready to Begin Operations Around Colombo

Chairman of the Metro Bus Company S.M.V.P. Thilakaratne said that all arrangements have been completed to deploy 104 newly imported Metro buses for passenger services.

He said the buses will operate in areas around Colombo.

According to Thilakaratne, the introduction of the new buses is expected to help reduce the number of vehicles entering Colombo and ease traffic congestion in the city.

Meanwhile, Senior Superintendent of Police Manoj Ranagala, Director of Traffic, Colombo, said the bus-lane regulations would be reintroduced.

He said that although the regulations had previously been implemented, the law has now been enforced through a new Gazette notification.

During the designated time period, other vehicles will be prohibited from using the bus lanes, he said.
